Project Overview: Working closely with Jenn at Furniture Evolution, to create a website where she could post and sell her one of a kind custom furniture pieces. She need a website that was user-friendly for the visitors to her website and for her to maintain. We built her a website using WordPress as the Content Management System (CMS), ensuring easy content updates and management. This included the setup of ecommerce using the WooCommerce plugin providing her with full control and ownership of her store, data and content.
Design Process: To keep the site simple we purchased a premium theme, Salient, that made it easy and quick to stand the site up with minor updates to the theme. In addition, the theme had a seamless interface with WooCommerce. The client already had a logo and branding, so it was just a matter of “plugging” everything into the themes user interface and adding content to the pages.
Client Partnership: The client, Jenn, and I have been friends for over 20 years so working to establish her online presence was fun as we also were able to catch up on life. We did have a couple of “hiccups” along the way with the hosting, but we worked them out and now she has her website. Originally, Jenn started setting up her site using the WordPress.com platform. Than she remembered she had a friend that may be able to assist her to accomplish her goal. I was happy that she contacted me and we quickly accessed her needs and I recommended that she setup her website on WordPress.org (You can read more about WordPress.com and WordPress.org here). Her active involvement throughout the project was instrumental in shaping every facet of the website. It was a joy to work side by side with her to ensure that she got a website that not only meets her current business needs but also grow with her as her business grows.
A Site for the Future: I look forward to further assisting Jenn with her online presence as her business continues to grow. It is inspiring to collaborate with a client that wants to be involved in the process and have full ownership of their online presence.
